Martina Sanchez Soto, 79, of Sunnyside died Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Hillcrest Manor, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 30, 1928 in Coahuilla, Mexico to Eutiquio and Margarita (Zuniga) Sanchez.

On March 28, 1942, she married Regino Soto in Mexico.

She is survived by her husband, Regino Soto of Sunnyside; her children, Margarita (Jesus) Gonzalez, Natalia (Juan) Gonzalez and Genaro (Berta) Soto, all of Sunnyside, Juan G. (Noelia) Soto of Toppenish, Pablo Soto of Kennewick, Juana (Arturo) Ramirez of Yakima, Consuelo (Shawn) Murphy of Richland, Martina Soto (Chris Ray), and Jesse Soto, all of Spokane; 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Santos of Texas and Leonor of Mexico; and one brother, Francisco of Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; and two infant daughters.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will be held at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
