Silas Eugene Richards, 66, of Kennewick, and a former Lower Valley resident, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Kadlec Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 24, 1941 in Outlook, the son of Leslie and Pearl (Roscoe) Richards. He received his education in Sunnyside, having graduated with the class of 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962.

He married Nancy Herd on Nov. 4, 1962 in Prosser.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy Richards of Kennewick; two sons, Kevin Richards and Darin Richards (Irma), all of Kennewick; four grandchildren; two brothers, William Richards of Mattawa and Paul Richards of Pasco; two sisters, Doris Hammett of Seattle and Rose "Tucker" Fleming of Grandview; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Vernon, George and David; and two sisters, Mary and Esther.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with funeral services following at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside. Burial will be held at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside.
