YES vote a vote for local children

On March 13th, the Sunnyside School District will be asking patrons for support of a facility improvement bond. The support of this $1.95 million bond measure will fund the upgrade of our Sunnyside High School auditorium and provide for the replacement of the unsafe grandstands at Clem Senn Field.

The decision to announce this bond measure is the result of an extensive review of these two facilities and most importantly the realization that both have now become out of date or in the case of our grandstands severely deteriorated.

This bond measure is our latest attempt to match the needs of our student body with the increasing demand within our community for facilities that can accommodate the diverse needs of our community patrons. These two facilities historically have hosted theatrical performances, town hall gatherings, community celebrations, PRIDE High School graduation, dance recitals, Miss Sunnyside, Miss Cinco de Mayo, Sunnyside High School graduation, Associated Student Body (ASB) events, student assemblies, and Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) sporting competitions. Each of these events has contributed to the quality of life in our City of Sunnyside. I am certain the memories of events at either of these two facilities have endeared many to our city.

I encourage one and all to support this bond measure; your affirmative vote on March 13th is a vote for the children in our community. Our Sunnyside School District through creative and responsible planning has a collection of facilities to be proud of. This bond measure assures that our children will have an opportunity to perform and compete in an array of first class facilities.

It is with my firm belief in this Sunnyside School District that I ask for you to join me on March 13th by casting your YES vote for the future children of our City of Sunnyside.

/s/ Miguel Puente, School Board Director, Sunnyside School District
