James Ernest Hallman Sr., 69, of Vancouver and a former resident of Sunnyside and Grandview passed away Sunday, May 23, 2004, at his home.

He was born Aug. 9, 1934 in Charles Mix County, Pierre S. D. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1963. He previously lived in the Sunnyside and Grandview areas until moving to Vancourver in 1969. He owned and operated Triple J. Enterprises Towing. He retired in 1996.

He was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge.

Mr. Hallman loved to gamble, especially in Reno. He enjoyed walking on the beach, spending time out on the ocean and bowling.

He is survived by two sons, John of Vancouver and Jim Jr. of Camas; two daughters, Loretta Misner and Barbara Hallman, both of Vancouver; one brother, Leo Hallman of Sunnyside; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace (Jackman) Hallman, in 1997; and three brothers, Johnnie Hallman, Mel Coles and Ken Coles.

Viewing services will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2004, from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will follow Thursday, May 27, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Kaiser Hospice.
