Sam Martinez, 66, of Seattle and a long-time Sunnyside resident died Monday, June 14, 2004, in Albuquerque, N. M.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Friday, June 18, 2004, at 6 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Sunnyside. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 19, 2004, at 8 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sunnyside. Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, is in charge of arrangements.


Robert Scott, 73, of Grandview and a former Mabton resident died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at Grandview Health Care Center.

He was born July 26, 1930 in Granada, Colo., the son of Edna (Millard) and Dewey Scott. He received his education in Prosser and graduated with the class of 1949.

He served in the U. S. Navy. Following his military duty he returned to Mabton, where he worked for various livestock sale yards in Eastern Washington and raised cattle.

He is survived by three sisters, Jo Marie Balfour, Nancy J. Scott and Linda Pickschus and husband, Proctor; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ella Halpin; and one brother, Wayne Scott.

At Mr. Scott’s request there will be no formal funeral services.

Smith Funeral Home, Grandview is in charge of arrangements.
