Edward R. Collins, 88, of Grandview died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at Prosser Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 25, 1916 in Little Rock, Ark., the son of Isabel (Holmes) and Joseph Collins. At an early age, he moved with his family to Grandview, where he received his education. He later met and married Eva Kern in November 1938 in Benton City. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Scott of Grandview; two grandsons; and one sister, Dovie Mattern of Yakima.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva Kern Collins; three brothers; and two sisters.

Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, from 1 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, from 8:30 a.m. until time of funeral services, at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Those wishing to honor his memory may contribute to the Grandview Fire Department.
